Classroom scavenger hunt

Create a classroom, home or outdoor observation hunt as a checklist, cut-out cards or a numbered route.

Make it yours

One item per line. For matching cards or bingo definitions use word | definition. Maximum 80 items, 60 characters per item.

How to use it

Choose an agreed area and review each observation prompt. Learners tick the list or follow the numbered cards. Set a return time and keep children supervised as appropriate. Do not collect objects or approach people without permission.

Discuss what learners noticed; observations have no single answer.

Adapt the activity

For an easier task, use fewer familiar items, a smaller grid and a visible word list. For more challenge, use definitions, add diagonal directions or ask learners to explain each answer. Test one sheet before making copies.
